MY ETSY SHOP GOT TAKEN DOWN.
I started my very first shop on Etsy in 2023. I got so much satisfaction from this shop, it was the first thing I’d look at in the morning and the last thing I’d check before I went to sleep. Which particular products were getting the most views, which tshirts were popular with pop culture at the time.
I noticed some of my favorite artists didn’t have any merch out there. Bands like The Shins, Dr Dog, niche artists that I love and value so much. I was really just designing for myself but wanted to spread the love of these special artists. I notice how problematic this is now, using other people’s lyrics as merch. And Etsy noticed it too.
I was rising too fast, at almost 1000 sales Etsy shut me down for good. I WAS CRUSHED. I was devastated. I clung to the myth of Icarus after this. This was the first design I made to clear my mind. It only makes sense that this is the first shirt I drop announcing my new shop. Morgan’s Room. I flew too close, but now I’m flying away starting a new journey. Just Don’t fly too close kids.
